In order to improve the wind turbine performances, such as increasing AEP and/or decreasing the loads, various innovative rotor designs and load control methods have been investigated. Recently, the size of wind turbines has been rapidly growing year by year. Wind turbine systems are getting lighter and more flexible. It introduces new challenges in many research areas. This lecture will focus on the challenges on wind turbine aeroelasticity and dynamic responses for multi-megawatt on- and off-shore wind turbine systems.\nMy colleagues and I have conducted several research and innovation projects in the area of wind turbine aeroelasticity and dynamics. The focused areas are rotor design, active and passive load control methods, experimental investigations, physical numerical model developments, sensor developments, etc., to improve wind turbine performances under the various operational conditions.\nIn this lecture, I will share a few key research outcomes from the performed research projects with my colleagues on wind turbine aeroelasticity and dynamics and outline possible future research and innovation challenges in the field.
