1:1 MSc in Environmental Engineering with EPFL

The DTU-EPFL 1:1 in Environmental Engineering is a two-year intensive exchange master’s programme for students enrolled at either DTU or EPFL. Students spend one year at EPFL and one year at DTU and receive their master’s degree from the university they are enrolled in.

Learn more about the programme.
The first student has graduated with a dual master’s degree in the aquatic environment having spent one year at DTU and one year at EPFL.

Swiss student Adrien Liernur has just completed an intensive two-year Master’s programme involving studying for one year at DTU, and one at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)—making him the first person to receive a dual MSc from the two universities.

The objective of the MSc programme is to provide students with the competences to develop sustainable solutions to complex environmental issues that involve other aspects relevant to society, such as legislation and economics.

“EPFL is an international leader in the field of environmental technology, and thus a natural partner for DTU Environment. We established the joint MSc programme in 2014 to reinforce our partnership, and we are delighted that the first student graduated this year—and, of course, that the topic of his thesis fell within one of the key areas of research at DTU Environment: hydrology,” relates Professor Philip J. Binning, Course Manager at DTU Environment.
