Tiltrædelsesforelæsning - John McCafferty

John McCafferty er blevet udnævnt adjungereret professor ved DTU Bioengineering. Det fejres med en tiltrædelsesforelæsning af John McCafferty med titlen:

Therapeutic antibodies: Past, present and future

Forelæsningen efterfølges af en reception. Tilmelding er ikke nødvendig.

In 1990 there was a single approved therapeutic antibody of murine origin. Today there are over 80 approved human antibodies with many hundreds more undergoing clinical development. This change has been driven by a number of technological advances including phage display which helped unleash a revolution in human antibody discovery. The underlying concept of linking genotype and binding phenotype has been extended to other systems including ribosome display, yeast display and mammalian display. Liberated from the need for immunisation these powerful technologies have also allowed the development of various alternative non-antibody scaffolds. This presentation will review this history of antibody discovery and reflect on current and future developments.
