In June 2025, two alumni spoke to the new Bachelors of Engineering and Masters of Science in Engineering. Here is their advice as well as photos from the Graduation Ceremonies:

Alexander M. Villao - BSc of Engineering, Produktion (2021) - Manager, Novo Nordisk A/S

Advice from Alexander:

  • Believe in yourself – you’re capable of more than you think
We often underestimate our own abilities. Remember: “You can do twice as much as you think – and ten times as much as your mother thinks.”

  • Mistakes are part of the journey – learn from them
It’s important to dare to fail and use mistakes as learning opportunities. It’s not about being the best from the start. It’s about perseverance, taking responsibility, and growing – both professionally and personally.

  • Take responsibility and stay curious – both professionally and personally
Engineering isn’t just about numbers – it’s about people; about collaboration, problem-solving, and patience. Be open to new opportunities, take responsibility, and remember that the real world needs your skills.

Chronis Chochlidakis - MSc, Sustainable Energy (2018) - Modelling Execution Lead, Blue Power Partners

Advice from Chronis:

  • Communicate your competencies clearly
Even in technical fields like engineering, how you present yourself matters. Explain your competencies in a way that resonates with employers. And make human connections — like calling hiring managers — to stand out and show genuine interest.

  • Be persistent and curious
Join mentorship programmes, or take an unpaid internship to gain experience.

  • Embrace setbacks and keep moving forward
Careers are rarely linear. Don’t fear failure - use it to grow, and keep moving forward with curiosity and resilience. Even temporary setbacks can be stepping stones to long-term success. Take steps forward, even if they feel small at the time.
